Deaf or Hearing Impaired

There are a variety of accommodations available to students who are deaf or hearing impaired, such as assistive listening devices, real-time captionists, and a pool of qualified sign-language and oral interpreters. Interpreters and captionists may be requested for all admission procedures, classroom use, and co-curricular activities, when pre-arranged. Students who need accommodation must first provide medical documentation of their disability. Please see Receiving Services for more information. For questions regarding documentation required, please see Documentation of Disability.

All accommodations are determined and approved by a counselor. For more information, please see Determining "Reasonable Accommodations".

Services Available

The above list is not comprehensive. Students may or may not be eligible for all above accommodations, depending upon symptoms and severity of disability. For questions regarding services, please contact the SSD office for more information.
